About
The co-founders are four Chiswick residents with an interest in the environment. We met in 2022 through the Hounslow Environmental Champions programme online. When we started meeting up for coffee in real life, the idea for the Chiswick Repair Cafe was born.
We are a voluntary organisation, supported by the Hounslow Environmental Champions programme. We have received a Thriving Communities Grant from the London Borough of Hounslow to help fund our start up. We are lucky to work with over 40 volunteers with a range of repair skills and expertise that allow us to make each Repair Cafe happen.
We have joined the Repair Cafe Foundation based in the Netherlands, a non profit organisation that supports local groups around the world in setting up their own repair cafes. The foundation aims to bring the idea of repair back into practice in a way that is relevant to how we live now, to preserve and share repair knowledge, and promote social cohesion by bringing neighbours with different backgrounds together at inspiring and accessible meetings.
