2025 Impact Report
Now in our third year, Chiswick Repair Cafe has become a regular fixture in the monthly Chiswick calendar. What began in 2022 with a small Thriving Community Grant from Hounslow Council has grown into a thriving community initiative supported by over 50 volunteers, welcoming regulars and newcomers alike from across London, and serving delicious home-baked, award-winning cakes every month.
Over the past three years and 27 events, we have attempted 2,174 repairs, successfully fixing 1,549 items, saving 1.4 tonnes of waste from landfill and reducing carbon emissions equivalent to taking five cars off the road for a year. Beyond the numbers, we repair treasured heirlooms alongside everyday household items, and provide a space where people can meet, learn repair skills and feel part of a connected community.
Our impact extends beyond Chiswick: we have helped other groups set up repair cafes across London and beyond, partnered with ReLondon's Repair Week and National Park City, and participated in conferences on repair and the circular economy. We were featured in The Daily Telegraph and appeared regularly in local news. Thanks to visitor donations, we were delighted to donate over £1,000 of our surplus to local and environmental good causes.
